NEtty lAsses

short film, 2026

Close-up of a young woman with curly hair and blue eyes, standing outdoors on a cloudy day at the beach, looking into the distance. Overlaid text defines the word 'netty' as a Northern English slang term for a toilet, especially an earth closet, and 'lass' as a Scottish Northern English term for a girl or young woman.

After a night of partying, four young women race into the sea for a spontaneous midnight swim. By morning, they wake scattered across the Northumberland coast with no memory of how they became separated. As each navigates the surreal landscape alone, familiar places begin to feel strange, chance encounters are narrowly missed, and the line between reality and imagination starts to blur. What begins as a carefree adventure becomes an unexpected journey through friendship, fear, and the joy of finding your way back to one another.
